1/72 HOBBYMASTER (HA3557) McDONNEL-DOUGLAS CF188 (188781) - True North Strong and Free - 2012 RCAF Demo Hornet - Desert Cats detachment (Desert Storm) in 1990/1991 - ROYAL CANADIAN AIRFORCE (LIMITED EDITION of ONLY 600) (Nov-2021 Release) ** This Model is Now AVAIABLE ** In 2012 RCAF CF-188A 781 (R.C.A.F. registry 188781) MSN 0556/A464 was selected to receive the special paint scheme to represent Canada’s Demo aircraft for that season. The aircraft paint theme was “The True North, Strong and Free” and flown by Captain Patrick Paco Gobeil, a former Snowbird Demonstration team member. Images on the aircraft depict the Arctic with 13 snowflakes to represent Canada’s 13 provinces and territories. Also shown are Northern Lights, Canada’s Maple Leaf, a polar bear and an Arctic hunter. 188781 McDonnell-Douglas CF-188 CF-18A 556 first date: 23 March 1987 - Taken on strength Equivalent to F-18A-21-MC when delivered. With No. 441 Squadron, and at CFB Cold Lake, Alberta in 1980s or 1990s. To Doha, Qatar for use by Desert Cat detachment in 1990/1991. With No. 439 Squadron in Germany, exact dates not known. With No. 441 Squadron at Cold Lake in 1994, when it received special paint scheme for the Squadron's 50 th anniversary, including invasion stripes and Second World War style code of "JE-J". Received ECP avionics upgrade. Visited Pearson International Airport, Toronto on 8 July 2006. Took part in the 2006 Canadian International Air Show, at Toronto on 1, 2 and 3 September 2006. With 425e Escadrille tactique de combat at Bagotville in August 2007. Took part in Canadian International Air Show, September 2007. Seen at Fort Worth on 22 November 2008, reported as with 425 Squadron then. Still with 425 Squadron in September 2010. Received special paint scheme in spring of 2012, to be the RCAF flight demonstration aircraft for 2012. Took part in flying display at Borden air show in June 2012. Took part in Canadian National Airshow at Toronto in September 2012. Reported active at CFB Bagotville in April 2016, with 6,715 airframe hours.
