1/72 HobbyMaster (HA3327) Northrop F5E Tiger II (Red 3528) 935th Fighter Regiment, Vietnam People's Air Force late 1970's (Limited Edition)

After the collapse of South Vietnam many VPAF (Vietnam People's Air Force) Regiments were formed in the north. On May 21, 1975 the 935th Fighter Regiment was established at Bien Hao Air Base equipped with former VNAF F-5 aircraft. On May 27, 1975 the unit flew its first Northrop aircraft mission against any remaining opposition. On February 22nd, 1979 ten F-5s of 935th FR moved to Noi Bai AB only to be returned in April 1980. In May 1982 all F-5s were removed from service when the 935th FR received MiG-21s.

This Northrop F-5E Tiger II was provided to the South Vietnam Air Force and was returned to the USN as 730855 C/N R-1036. In April 1989 the aircraft became the property of VMFT-401 “Snipers” Adversary Squadron at Yuma, Arizona as Adversary 01. Marine Fighter Training Squadron 401 (VMFT-401 “Snipers”) was activated in March 1986 at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, Arizona and is the USMC’s only adversary squadron. In 2006 F-5E 730855 was sent to VFC-13 “Fighting Saints” and in 2012 retired to AMARC.
